The children arrived back after the bank holiday to find five hatched and beautiful painted lady butterflies. After feeding them some sugary water, we released them and all enjoyed watching them fly away. Following on from learning our teen numbers last week, we have been making addition stories and writing the number sentence to reflect the story. We continue to use Honda’s Surprise, which has inspired us to make maps of her journey and to make fruit kebabs with our favourite fruits. In phonics we are learning our phase 4 tricky words, which have also been sent home to practice and we are learning to read words with consonant blends and 2 syllables. Our animals topic continues to interest the children who have been role playing with the animal masks. We also examined ‘animal poo’ to determine the diet of certain animals and use new vocabulary of carnivore, herbivore and omnivores.
