Love, Learn, Aspire
"Let all that you do be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14
This week Maple has been very busy with their learning! In Geography, we researched into how earthquakes occur on tectonic plate boundaries and in plate interiors. Maple used diagrams and facts to create informatic posters about earthquakes. In English, we started learning about non-fiction writing and began focussing on the structure of these texts. We used our learning in English in our R.E.; we ensured we used headings and subheadings on our posters about places of worship. Each group in R.E. was assigned a place of worship to research and use their teamwork skills to work together to create a poster. The groups showed delegation, creativity and communication in creating their posters. In Art, we began transferring our skills into a new medium: watercolour. In Science, we learnt that soil is made from rocks and organic material. We looked at the 6 types of soil and discussed their similarities and differences. We collected some soil samples from the school field to look at under a microscope next week! In P.S.H.E, we continued with looking into healthy living and lifestyles. We also gained new P.S.H.E mascots, Jerry and Jessie, who are now residents in our book corner! Some of our class took part in a rugby festival at Letchworth Rugby Club and competed in friendly matches against local schools. We are all very proud of how they showed teamwork and sportsmanship to win 5 out of 7 of their matches - well done!! We finished the week by sharing our learning in the celebration assembly. All pupils in class shared some of their favourite learning from this week, from French to Maths to Geography. Miss Thorpe is very proud of everyone for taking part and showing pride in their learning.
