Maths
At Preston, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme as well as the Maths Hub Programme to develop mastery in maths. White Rose Maths enables teachers to deliver lessons that ensure pupils can build on their learning moving through three distinct phases:
1. concrete manipulation of maths equipment to embed their understanding of new concepts,
2. pictorial representation of learning to record their learning, and
3. abstract representation of concepts.
This is further supported by NCETM materials to ensure regular challenge and to provide the opportunity for children to deepen their understanding of maths.
