In Reception, we realise the importance of developing a mathematically rich environment which enables children to explore, learn and think. We encourage numeracy as an integral part of the EYFS curriculum, allowing cross-curricular opportunities to use, as well as embed, key concepts.
Children in Reception are encouraged to use mathematical language from an early age. This will help them as they move into KS1 (Years One and Two) and help develop their mathematical reasoning skills.
Resources are continually available for the children to access during child-initiated learning. All pupils have opportunities to follow-up whole group or class learning both indoors and in the outside areas.
