Love, Learn, Aspire
"Let all that you do be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14
English (Parental input)
We are beginning to learn about recounts.
Ask the children to retrieve a photograph from home, showing a fond memory that they have, and to think about this memory in their mind. Ask the children to think about the who, what, where and when of the memory and also, how they felt.
Explain to the children that today, they will practise giving a verbal recount of their fond memory. Ask the children what the language features of a recount are and create a list of these:
• Time conjunctions (eg later, meanwhile)
• Past tense
• First person (I, me, my)
• Thoughts, feelings and opinions
• Descriptive language
Explain to the children, that when giving a verbal recount, they should include all of these features. Show/talk about your own photo of a fond memory that you have and model telling the children about your memory. As you do so, use all of the previously listed language features to provide a verbal recount.
Please ask your child to jot down their notes and to create a picture of their memory. Please can they bring to school on Monday so that they can share their memory with others.
Reading
Please read for 5-10 minutes (all) and practise spellings (Year 2).
Computing
Please create an Internet Safety Poster and bring to school on Monday.
PE
Enjoy being active outside, maybe practise some of the tennis skills we have learnt, or make an obstacle course in your garden to enjoy. You could also try some yoga out.
