Between 1st and 12th November, the UK will host COP26, an event that is described as a pivotal moment in the fight against climate change. As the host country, there is a unique opportunity to engage young people in the fight against climate change and decisions that will shape their futures. At Preston, we will be taking part in discussions and activities that will help promote awareness of this important event.
We have started to prepare our gardens...
We have had so much fun with this project! Each class has been reading 'The Secret Garden' and have explored the characters Mary, Colin & Dickon, as well as creating character collages for our whole school display. The children have also been learning their Maths outside and using the theme of gardens to learn other subjects. Pupils are beginning to plan and dig out their seasonal garden plots too!
The Preston School community are embarking on an exciting new Summer project based on the idea of bringing everyone back together again (safely of course!). A new area is being prepared by volunteers ready to be filled, planted and enjoyed by our children. We'll keep this page updated as the children begin their whole school project in class next week...
On Monday 24th May, Full House Theatre visited and engaged and entertained the children with their fun & unique performance of 'Day Dreamers'.
Class Three have started to use the new Chrome Books; an excellent resource to support class learning!
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and this year's theme is nature. We are very lucky that we are surrounded by trees and big open spaces. Here at Preston, we try to boost our mental well-being each and every day by being active, connecting with nature and following the five ways to well-being.
A massive thankyou to our wonderful PSA who funded our new outdoor learning space. This could not happen without the support and contribution from the wider Preston community.
In recognition of the National Census on 21st March 2021, the children have been thinking about why we have the census, how often it takes place and how completing the census informs future planning. Each class has put together a time capsule to show a snapshot of Preston School in 2021. Our hope is to open them again in ten years time!
