Love, Learn, Aspire
"Let all that you do be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14
We have had a fantastic start to the new school year in Maple Class! It has been wonderful to see the children settling into their new routines and getting to know each other. Our Year 3 children have adapted really well to life in Maple Class, and we are particularly proud of how our Year 4 children have supported them with our routines, expectations and daily activities. It has been lovely to see such teamwork and kindness already!
PSHE – Our Class Rules
In PSHE, we have been working hard together to create our Maple Class Rules. The children shared their ideas and discussed what we need to do to make our classroom a happy, safe and positive place where everyone can learn.
Our rules were created by the class, for the class, so it is important that everyone understands and follows them. Please support us by talking through our class rules with your child at home.
English – Hermelin, the Detective Mouse
We have really enjoyed starting our first English unit using the wonderful text Hermelin: The Detective Mouse. The children have loved finding out about Hermelin and following the adventures he gets up to as he solves mysteries around the neighbourhood.
We have been developing our reading skills and beginning to explore the characters, events and vocabulary within the story. There have already been some fantastic discussions and ideas from the children!
Maths – Place Value
In Maths, we have been learning all about place value. We have been exploring the value of digits in numbers and developing our understanding of thousands, hundreds, tens and ones. The children have been working hard to represent, read and compare numbers and explain their mathematical thinking.
We have also begun our new Science topic, Animals Including Humans. We started our learning by looking at the different food groups and thinking about how each group helps to keep our bodies healthy.
The children have enjoyed discussing the foods they eat and learning about the importance of having a balanced diet.
Our Year 4 children have been busy recapping French greetings and beginning to use some simple phrases. They have also had the opportunity to share their knowledge and skills with our Year 3 children, which has been a lovely way for them to learn together and support one another.
We enjoyed a fantastic drama workshop all about superheroes and saving the planet! The children had great fun taking on different roles, using their imaginations and thinking about ways that superheroes could help protect our planet.
