"Let all that you do be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14

W/B 7th Nov 2022

This week in Maple Class, we have been learning and problem solving with times-tables. The times-tables we have learnt are the 3s, 6s and 9s. We learnt some tips to help with the 9 times table, including using our fingers to help. In History, we have been learning about the 3 pre-history periods; Stone Age, Bronze Age and the Iron Age. We know that the Stone Age has three periods; the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and the Neolithic (there were woolly mammoths, woolly rhinoceros and cave lions). In Science, we have been studying non-contact forces; magnetic forces and gravity. We used magnets to attract metal. We tested gravity by jumping and dropping feathers. This week we have also been doing descriptive writing using the book Flo of the Somme in English. By using descriptions of Flo (the dog) and the five senses, we wrote a description either inspired by an image of a poppy field or battlefield illustrations in the book. Our Art lessons have been about looking at patterns in weaving; we studied Navajo tribal weavings and looked for symmetry and geometric shapes. In P.E., we have been learning about different kinds of shapes and jumps. We have learnt about colours and classroom objects in French. We finished the week by sharing our learning in the celebration assembly; thank you to all the parents and families who came to watch us. Here are some photos of our learning...
