SPORTS

As a school we offer a broad range of sporting activities. Alongside our twice weekly PE lessons, the children partake in our daily mile and also have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of sports throughout each lunch time. Depending on the time of year these can range from football, hockey, lacrosse, dodgeball, athletics, badminton, cricket and tennis. 

We have four house teams: Gribble VC, Bowes-Lyon, Knights Templar & St Martin

COMPETITIONS

We compete in a number of sporting events throughout the year, including Athletics, Netball, Football, Tag Rugby, Rounders, Cup Stacking and Cross Country.

In addition to the above we compete in the hotly contested Quad Sports. A small schools competition between the neighbouring schools of Offley, Wymondley and Cockernhoe. We are very proud to be the reigning Quad Sports champions!

Sports day is held during our summer term and the children take part in class races, as well as team events. The Reception through to Year 6 relay is always a great team event!

SWIMMING

All children in KS2 have annual swimming lessons. They work towards the National Curriculum standard whereby all children can swim 25 metres effectively when leaving school. Children attend lessons at Hitchin Swimming Centre.

BIKEABILITY

In Year 5, children have the opportunity to take part in the Bikeability course. The level 2 course aims to develop riders' skills and confidence for cycling on single-lane roads and simple junctions with mostly moderate motor traffic flows and prepares riders for cycling on more complex, often busier or faster roads and junctions. 

OUR FACILITIES

Outside we have a dedicated running track, which takes the children around the edge of our large sports field. Our children also benefit from an all weather astro court, table tennis, wooden trim trail, traverse climbing wall and playground including netball court. 

Inside the children have use of the gym equipment within the main hall and this space is also used for dance.
