"Let all that you do be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14

W/B 26th Sept 2022

This week Maple class first prepared, practiced and performed their prayers for the Harvest Service. We researched why Christians celebrate harvest and used this information to help write our prayers of thanks. We particularly wanted to thank God for the food we receive and we asked God to love and support those who struggle to stay fed. We have been bringing in lots of food for the food bank collection which will be given to Hitchin Food Bank to support those in need. In English we continued with our descriptive writing, challenging ourselves to use lots of figurative language in our writing. We self and peer assessed our work to make improvements. We enjoyed Art this week, we used our sketching skills with charcoal to draw autumn leaves which we had collected outside on the field. We tried to make sure we used a tonal scale to show the details of the leaves. In Geography, we looked at how volcanoes are formed and made some information posters about volcanoes. Our termly homework also started this week and many of us produced models of our earthquake proof structures to show how important it is to protect a building from an earthquake strike. Some of us chose to write poems about a volcanic eruption, we used different poetry techniques from rhyming structure to onomatopoeic language. Miss Thorpe is looking forward to seeing what other excellent homework projects we produce for the rest of term!
