Science: Plants Project

Science: Plants Investigation. October 2017.

What would happen if you fed a plant fanta...or paint... or sand?!

Well that is what Class 2 have been investigating. We brought in a selection of our own fizzy drinks to feed some lettuce to investigate what would happen.

To our surprise the lettuce seemed to like the fizzy drinks (most probably because they had a high water content!). The lettuce did not mind the other substances for a little while- but eventually they all began to turn yellow and fade away! We also experimented with sunlight to test how important it is for a plant.

We discovered that the best conditions for a plant included just enough air, sunlight, water and minerals. We understand that plants are crucial to our world for feeding us and for helping to provide oxygen for us to breath.

We have therefore been growing our own green runner bean plants to help save the world and to understand what plants need and how to care for them.
