To continue our learning about homes, Class One went on a walk around Preston Village to compare and contrast homes in our local environment. We identified and described different types of homes such as detached, terraced, semi-detached, bungalows, cottages and used pictures of the village from the past to compare how it looks now.
We recorded our findings as tallies on a chart and used this information to look for patterns. In Preston, there are mainly detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, with some cottages and bungalows. We discussed whether or not the homes in the village are mainly old or new and why this was. Our walk showed us that Preston Village is an old village with a lot of history!
We made sure that we were respectful when walking around the village and looking at people's homes. A huge thank you to Mrs Reavell's father who not only supplied us with the pictures to use but was also a fountain of knowledge on our walk!
